Though I came into Boston University undecided on my major and future, I quickly developed a passion for teaching after I volunteered to work in a second grade classroom. This experience came during the first semester of my freshman year, and from then on I absolutely fell in love with teaching, math in particular. I carry a bachelor's degree from Rutgers University and I'm applying to dental school. I'm a tutor at my university's learning center and have experience as a chemistry lab teaching assistant. My favorite aspect of tutoring is being able to relieve a student of their worries and assure them that they're completely capable of comprehending the material if they simply dedicate enough time to practice. I myself, was an average student in high school, however once I got to university I really applied myself and worked hard to get to where I'm at now. I started out taking basic classes and constantly going to the tutoring center as well as my professors' office hours. Building a solid base in these lower level courses helped me understand more difficult material in higher level classes to come. Once I started to take higher level science classes I was towards the top of the class in subjects like chemistry and physics (classes have 100-200 + students). Building a solid understanding of the basics is the key to success. I tutor general chemistry, organic chemistry, biology, algebra and test prep for the DAT. I especially enjoy tutoring chemistry which I view as being the central science in understanding the fundamentals of how the universe works at the smallest level. I can confidently help students with the DAT having scored well myself (I can provide documentation of my score).
