I'm a graduate student and part-time college faculty member in the Phoenix area, but I grew up in the suburbs of Philadelphia. I recently moved to Arizona after working as a tutor abroad and am keen to continue tutoring here in my new home. Though I've tutored a wide range of subjects (standardized test prep, French, English, and History, to name a few), the sciences and math are my favorites. I genuinely love the sciences, especially Biology, and I think that this passion and enthusiasm make a real difference while tutoring. I was then hired by the Spanish government to teach English language through content classes in trilingual Catalan focused elementary and high schools. While in Spain, I also developed and taught curriculum for private children and adult classes. I then became head soft-skills trainer and curriculum developer for Anudip Foundation in Calcutta, a non-government organization aimed at teaching technology and language skills to rural Bengalis. I have been tutoring pre-numeracy through Algebra in New York for the last year, while studying communication sciences and disorder.I believe is giving students the tools to find answers to problems independently, and making the underlying logic of the problem clear. Watching students gain understanding of new concepts and break down barriers in the academic careers is the true joy I find in teaching.

I graduated with honors from New York University with a B.F.A. in Drama. While at NYU, I took a variety of classes to satisfy my degree, from Astronomy to Greek Mythology, because I love learning. By extension, I love teaching because I enjoy helping others become passionate about knowledge. I have been a gymnastics coach, a camp counselor, and a tutor, teaching sports, arts and crafts, and school subjects to children of all ages. My favorite subjects to tutor are English and Spanish, because I love helping people to express themselves. While at Brown I worked as a member of the Brown Writing Fellows, a group of selected and trained students who show and aptitude in writing, editing, and the teaching of the two, and No Small Parts, an educational group that led performance and theatre workshops at schools in Providence, Rhode Island.As far as my high school education/scores go, I graduated from Saddle River Day School (a small private high school in Bergen County, NJ) in 2008 as salutatorian and as a member of the Cum Laude National Honors Society. I was also the recipient of the Bradford Cooke Sommer Humanitarian Scholarship (2007) as well as the University of Rochester Bausch & Lomb Honorary Science Scholarship (2007). In regards to more specific subjects, I was an AP Scholar with Distinction having taken U.S. History, Calculus AB, Biology, Spanish Language, Spanish Literature, and English Literature.I received a cumulative score of 2250 on my SATs (Reading 750, Math 700, Writing 800, Essay 12).

I believe the qualities of a great teacher include accountability, creativity, and exceptional management skills. Students' views of education are shaped by their early experiences in school. A teacher is one of the first people to develop a child's passion for knowledge. Students enjoy the learning experience when they feel their academic curiosity and well being are nurtured. It is important for a teacher to model how all aspects of life is a learning experience. I believe it is important for students to understand that learning is a lifelong journey and their perspective of learning can instill a passion for learning.

I completed my undergraduate education in three years at Georgetown University in Washington, DC where I earned my Bachelor of Science in Foreign Service. I then attended Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles where I was part of the Partners in Los Angeles Education (PLACE) Corps. There I earned my Master of Arts in Secondary Education and my California Single Subject Clear Credential with an authorization in social science. I am currently in the process of adding an English authorization to my credential. I will return to Loyola Marymount to work on a second Master's degree in the Fall.I have been in the classroom for almost four years teaching social studies, religion, and English to grades 5 - 12. I have experience at both the high school and middle school levels. I also was previously a coach for the Catholic School's Junior High Academic Decathlon for multiple subjects. I regularly hold tutoring for my students have much experience tutoring a variety of subjects at the middle school level.I am in education because it is a constantly changing field where one can always work on improving one's teaching. I enjoy the challenges of teaching and tutoring because it means that no two days are ever the same. In addition, I enjoy using research based methods in education. I'm a seasoned educator who has been tutoring privately and professionally since I was undergraduate student at North Carolina State University. I graduated from New York University this past December receiving a Bachelor of Arts with Honors in anthropology with a minor in chemistry. While my focus was in genetic anthropology, my liberal arts major has allowed me to explore a wide variety of subjects during my college experience. So many years of practice has allowed me to become versed in tutoring individuals of all ages in a wide variety of subjects.
