I am a licensed teacher in Oregon with over 6 years of experience working in a variety of school environments. I've earned a Masters degree in Education from Portland State University, along with an additional Graduate Certificate in Middle School Mathematics Education. Last summer, I returned home to Portland after a two-year teaching engagement in northern Thailand, where I taught a variety of subjects (including Math and Science) to students in grades 5 - 10 in a private international school. I just completed a contract as the Middle School Math and Science teacher and 7th grade Homeroom teacher at Arthur Academy in St. Helens, Oregon.I am committed to creating an educational environment that is challenging and relevant to all students, while at the same time supporting the differences in character and learning styles that make teaching interesting. Furthermore, I am familiar with Common Core subject standards, and "backward planning", and am comfortable using a variety of assessment strategies to determine student needs and proficiencies.

I'm currently a sophomore majoring in Computer Science at Case Western Reserve University. While I tutor a broad range of subjects, I'm most familiar with high school math, history, and English as well as SAT and ACT prep. In my experience tutoring I've found that students respond best to a careful walktrough of the key points in a problem, followed by an opportunity to come up with the answer a similar question on their own.

It suggests individuals have unique intellectual gifts of these different intelligences, which can be nurtured in areas of visual, kinesthetic, musical, spatial, interpersonal, etc.One of my key areas of expertise is years of Teaching English as a Foreign Language (TEFL). These experiences have given me a broad, culturally sensitive perspective and a deep understanding of how students from different backgrounds learn most effectively. What truly fuels my passion for teaching, however, is the inspiration I draw from my students each with their own unique stories, goals, and learning styles. Their individuality continually shapes and refines my approach as an educator.I also enjoy teaching a variety of school subjects including history, reading books, science, and help with one of my favorite subjects, creative art school projects.As part of my story, I am a U.S. Marine Corps veteran. I am a graduate of Emory University, where I received a Bachelor of Science in Biology. I then received a Master of Science from Johns Hopkins University where I focused on Biotechnology. I am currently pursuing my M.D. in Boston, MA. During my time in graduate school, I tutored middle school and high school students in science and math. I love tutoring science, especially health sciences as I am in school to become a physician. I also enjoy teaching math and I find it to be one of the most rewarding subjects to watch a student grow to understand. Throughout my academic career, I have taken the SAT, GRE, and MCAT so I am especially passionate about test preparation.

I graduated from Wesleyan University with a degree in Neuroscience & Behavior. I also obtained a Masters in Teaching with a focus on middle school math from Relay Graduate School of Education. I now look to pursue a PhD in sociology in the upcoming year.I have worked five years in education, three of which I spent teaching middle school math. Math and Science are my favorite subjects. I believe it is important to understand the ways in which our world works, and these subjects provide a good foundation for building necessary critical-thinking skills in kids.I consider myself a coffee enthusiast. So, in my spare time I love to explore new coffee shops. Aside from that I love to dance, go on hikes, and spend time with cats. I believe it is important to have a healthy life outside of education, hence my hobbies.

However, I have been moved around in the school system quite a bit and I'm flexible to teach many different contents and age groups.When I was younger I found that my brain didn't quite learn the same way as others and tests were way more difficult for me. Fortunately, my teachers tutored me after school and I was tutored through local organizations. This helped me identify my personal learning style and how to make education work for me. Every since then I have wanted to be that person for another young and bright child.I am a book nerd and geek in general. I love biking and spending time outdoors. Currently, I am currently a 4th year medical student. I have always had passion to to help students prepare for examinations, and making sure that they are doing it efficiently. My favorite subjects to tutor would have to include Anatomy and Physiology, and Biochemistry. In the spare time I have, I enjoy being outdoors (especially during COVID times), hiking, going to the mountains, and going back home to Nashville to visit my family (safely).
