Recent Gilbert Tutoring Session Notes
Continued discussing sampling distributions, particularly for sample means and sample proportions. After going through an extensive amount of problems over these topics, we moved on to confidence intervals. We were only briefly able to discuss confidence intervals with regards to proportions, but we were able to cover their significance, interpretation, confidence levels, and how to calculate confidence intervals for proportions. Homework was assigned over confidence intervals, and we will continue with this topic starting next week.

The student was having problems with radicals and exponents. We went over the packet he had and I explained to him what they had went over in school. I helped him and gave him some strategies on how to work those problems.

The student and I spent most of our session talking about titrations between strong acids and strong bases, as well as between weak acids and strong bases. We also spent some time going over oxidation states in preparation for her next unit on redox chemistry.

The student and I spent the session going over the math section I assigned for HW. We discussed systems of equations, radical equations, and simplifying exponential and rational expressions. I assigned an English section for HW.

Today's session went extremely well because we pinpointed the student's main problem with his writing. We went over a past perfect tense worksheet and how to correctly conjugate "to have" with the correct person. He picked up on the corrections very quickly. Next session, we will cover commonly used irregular verbs and how to conjugate them.

I was able to hold a successful session with the student on Tuesday. She wanted to go over her previous quiz #1, so I went over all the terms and basic concepts required for the very quiz. After that she wanted to be prepared for her upcoming quiz# 2. I went over the topics including equations, x-intercept, y-intercept, slope, domain and range. I gave her 4 or 5 practice questions so that she could be confident while taking her quiz.
