Today the student and I read Bunnicula together. He read a lot, and if he didn't understand something about the plot or the characters, he asked me. I made a list of words he mispronounced and we went over it together. Then we did some reading comprehension. I explained his mistakes and then I asked him to write a passage about his summer. I proofread and explained punctuation to him, and in our next session we'll work on his mini-essay.

We openly discussed ideas and meaning of the text as it applied to each element of TRACE. He will continue to develop his rough draft for review next week before submitting it for editing during our next meeting.

We covered acids and bases, and properties of salt solutions. The student has a great attitude toward his work, and he understands everything that we have been going over. I pointed out the important equations for him to use for doing the various acid and pH problems with this chapter, and he understands how they are used.

We covered redox reactions and determining oxidation numbers during this session. She had trouble with trying to determine whether a reaction is a redox reaction based off the oxidation numbers, and she especially had a hard time finding out the oxidation numbers of each element and why it is so. However by the conclusion of our session, she was more confident and she was better able to understand why each element has the oxidation number that it has.
