I have been tutoring for 6 years now in a vast array of subjects in mathematics. My love for teaching for began when I was pursuing my masters of science degree in chemistry at Rutgers University. As graduate students we were responsible for being teacher assistants, proctoring exams, and holding review sessions. After I obtained my Masters, I became an SAT/ACT math tutor. I have tutored many students and have helped them grasp difficult math concepts and help them tackle the SAT/ACT. My love for math began at an early age. It was always a subject I enjoyed and did well in. While I was obtaining my bachelors of science in chemistry, I had to take some very advanced classes, including calculus 1-3. I have also had a passion for math and wanted to use this passion to help students achieve their academic goals. Just recently, I obtained my Masters of Business Administration (MBA) with a concentration in finance from NJIT. I always had a love for business and thought having an MBA would help better my professional career. I firmly believe that education can not only open doors for you, but can make you a better individual.My favorite subjects to tutor are SAT and ACT math. These standardized tests are incredibly important for a student's path in education. I am well-versed in these exams and am knowledgeable on all topics they cover. I have seen a myriad of questions and know what types of things to look out for. I also stress to my students to that knowing how to take the SAT/ACT is just as important as knowing the material that you are being tested on. I also tutor pre-algebra, algebra I and II, pre-calc, geometry, and trigonometry.In my spare time I enjoy being with my family. I have 2 young boys that keep me very busy.

In 2012 I graduated from University of Oregon with a major in finance and a minor in economics. While in college I was a business tutor in the Integrated Communications Program in which I helped upper division business students with formal writing and public speaking. I also spent my sophomore year as the Vice President of Finance of my sorority. I am currently attending Concordia University to obtain my Masters of Arts in Teaching; when I graduate I will be licensed to teach middle and high school mathematics.As my background suggests, I love math! When I was in college, I continued my passion and tutored freshman level mathematics and accounting. During my first year in Portland I was part of a tutoring company in which I tutored several students. Needless to say, math is my passion. As a student who has taken loads of math classes, I have watched my friends struggle through not only the subject but the teaching methods. My experiences as a tutor have allowed me to branch out and use a variety of teaching techniques in order to fit each student's needs. In addition to my writing-intensive major, I took a well-rounded premedical course load with some of my favorite classes being physiology, anatomy, organic chemistry and microbiology. I have always loved teaching and editing papers. My experience includes helping my sister with her anatomy and other biology classes as well as tutoring a friend in chemistry and physics.My style of tutoring is a very collaborative process with lots of time for the person I'm tutoring to ask clarifying questions . I really enjoy taking seemingly difficult topics and explaining them in a logical fashion while emphasizing the basics every step of the way. I find that students' frustration with a concept generally stems from uncertainty regarding how to organize many intersecting ideas. I just graduated Magna Cum Laude from Rowan University with a B.S. in Mathematics, minor in Computer Science, and a concentration in Applied Math. At Rowan I was president of our math team and volunteer tutored three hours each week while also tutoring high school students on the side. In the fall I will be attending Rutgers University in pursuit of a PhD in Applied Math. I have also done math research for the last two years which resulted in one published paper (with two more on the way), talks, conferences, and an REU at The Institute for Computational and Experimental Mathematics at Brown University last summer.
