With 25 years of government service combined with a Master's degree in Public Management from Northern Arizona University and a Bachelor's in Political Science from the University of Arizona, I bring a wealth of knowledge and real-world experience to my teaching. I am dedicated to helping students excel in subjects like History, Political Science, Public Speaking and Writing/English. My teaching philosophy centers on tailoring lesson plans to meet the unique needs of each student, creating a supportive environment where students feel engaged and motivated to learn by connecting course material to their interests for optimal applicability. I am a graduate of Northern Arizona University. I received a Bachelors of Science in Elementary Education. Since graduation, I have been teaching kindergarten in Gilbert Public Schools. I love teaching and have always enjoyed helping others be successful. I love all subjects, but I love history the most. Teaching is my passion, but I do expect students to be able to have a fun and structured learning environment. I've realized that students do best with consistency and genuine care. I try to make my classroom fun and structured! My students get to enjoy their learning experiences and I get to enrich their learning with fun and structured activities and lessons. I love teaching, but I also enjoy spending time with my family, traveling, and growing as a student myself! I believe in continuing my life in education and building a great foundation not only for my students but for my own children.
I have a master's degree in physics with research emphasis in astrophysics from San Francisco State University. I received my Bachelor of Science in physics and astronomy with a minor in math. Currently I am an adjunct instructor at Mesa Community College teaching astrophysics courses. I have four years of teaching experience in astronomy and physics lab courses at San Francisco State University. I acquired excellent teaching skills while I was a graduate student at San Francisco State University for which I even received an honor of outstanding physics teaching assistant from San Francisco State University. I was also a math instructor for a Summer Bridge program at San Francisco state University where my responsibility was to teach first year college algebra. I have tutored kids in the age group of 8 to 15 in the subject areas of science and math. I tutor math (calculus, differential equations, algebra, geometry and trigonometry) and science courses (physics, astrophysics, planetary science). I enjoy teaching in general and am passionate about math, physics and astronomy. I firmly believe that education is one of the most important tools in shaping a child's life and I would love to be a part of that process. In my past experience I have noticed many students struggle with subjects like math and physics and my goal is to try to make it a fun experience for them. In my spare time I enjoy reading books, biking, hiking , running and snow boarding. During my graduate program I liked volunteering at our college observatory and I still like to take my telescope out occasionally for star gazing.
My name is Lisa Hamilton. I am a highly experienced teacher with a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education (K-8) and Special Education, Emotional Disabilities (K-12). I also have a Masters of Education in Secondary Education, Mathematics (7-12).I have taught for 31 years, teaching 4th-12th grade, regular education and special education. The last 20 years, I have taught math, grades 7-12. I have taught all levels of math.I have tutored privately for various families for the last 20 years, and I currently tutor middle and high school math students. I have also tutored a few students in college, Calculus I and Calculus II being the highest levels. I have tutored some in Science, History, and English. I have extensive experience with students who need motivational, organizational and/or time management help. I have also worked with students taking online classes who need these skills, as well as math assistance. I enjoy seeing students accomplish goals and concepts that they did not think possible. I enjoy seeing students enjoy learning and becoming empowered by what they can accomplish. I have frequently told my students that my job is to work myself out of a job; I want them to learn how to learn so they no longer need me! I have reached this point with many of my students, and it makes for a great ending.I really enjoy a lot of "Nerdy" things; Star Wars and Harry Potter are two of my biggest "Fandoms"! I love games and puzzles and find math to be one of those. I have raised four amazing adults and love being a grandma! I love the outdoors, camping and hiking are my favorites. I love to cook and spend time with family and friends. I am also a football fan and love the Green bay Packers!I look forward to the next great adventure!
I love reading and writing and all the elements that are intricately laced through those two disciplines. It is exciting the explore the possibilities of word choice and grammar, as well as the different lenses with which to analyze literature and explore themes.I graduated with my undergraduate in English Literature from Brigham Young University-Idaho. I received my master's degree from Northern Arizona University in Rhetoric, Writing, and Digital Media Studies. I taught English composition as an adjunct faculty at BYU-Idaho for two years. I am trained in the Suzuki violin method and taught violin lessons to children as young as five and adults. I believe that a person of any age can develop a musical talent and learn to analyze literature and become a high-level reader and writer.My favorite subject to teach is English composition. I think being able to shape your words into clear thoughts and persuasive language is a beautiful art.

I have over 25 years of teaching experience, and specialize in AP Human Geography and AP U.S. History. I have also taught economics and various facets of world history.
