I am a graduate of Ashford University. I received my Bachelor of Arts in Social Science with a minor in Sociology. I continued my education back to back and received my Master of Arts in Education with specialization in Higher Education. Since I graduated from the University I have been working with students at the Elementary School level. I have been tutoring Elementary and Middle school Math. I also tutor Middle and High School level Spanish and Italian. As a native Latina and Spanish being my first language, I enjoy very much helping out ESL students. I am passionate about education and feel that it is the most important asset a person can obtain.

Philosophy of TeachingMy philosophy of teaching for learning is that every child has a special gift or talent and it takes a determined and caring teacher to tap into those gifts and talents. A teacher can help a child realize his or her potential and use it in order to enhance the learning experience. In the more than 30 years I've been working as an embedded engineer, computer programmer, and app developer I've had a lot of opportunities to mentor others. I believe learning about technology, programming, electronics, and just how the world we live in really works is one of the most rewarding things anyone can do, and it is a great pleasure to help anyone on their own learning journey. In particular, I love the greater impact women are making in technology today compared to when I started. I tutor a wide variety of topics with a special focus on computer programming (especially learning C, C++, Delphi, or assembly language) and electronic circuit design. In my spare time I enjoy hiking, my dog, motorcycle riding, and my family.

"You are never too old to get an education and learn something."This was a statement that my father said to me on a daily basis. Today, I carry that statement with me everywhere I go.I graduated high school in 1979 after dropping out in the mid 70's. After that, I took a few college courses to give me a leg up in raising my children. I tutored them and showed them how to read and write before they even were in school. I entered the U.S. Army and served for 9 years, then after leaving the military, I became a stay at home mom to teens.Eventually, I went back to college and earned my A.A.S. in Medical Assisting and became Certified in that field after few years I attended Ashford University an online school and earned my B.A. in Social Sciences with Education. I'm currently attending Northcentral University another online school for my Master Education degree in Curriculum and Teaching.I also work as a house substitute in 2 inner-city schools teaching all grades. Later this month I will sit for my Alternative Resident Educator license in Integrated Social Studies, then later this year I will once again sit for my Integrated Science test which I hope to licensed in as well.I love teaching students who have the drive to learn no matter much they don't know I find they always looking for the answer somewhere and I want to see them get to the point that they understand the answer and look for the next step to learning. I graduated from Ashford University in 2017 receiving my bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education. Growing up I had a few teachers in my life who really helped me learn in a unique way that was best for me, and it changed my life. I knew then that I wanted to become a teacher and help others in the same way that I was helped. I have experience with teaching many different grade levels both online and in classroom. I have also taught a broad range of subjects such as English, Phonics, Math, Science and Social Studies. I believe that it is important when teaching to use the "I do, we do, you do" method. With this method there are 3 stages. Stage 1 is the "I do" stage used when introducing material, I will model how it is done fully explaining it along the way. Then we will move to stage 2 the "we do" stage where we work together on the objectives. Finally, we finish with the 3rd stage the "you do" stage. This is where the student can complete the objectives independently and confidently. Let's not forget that there is also plenty of practice to build confidence in each skill, because practice makes perfect. I love working with students and do my best to make learning fun and engaging for each student. I believe that children at any age learn best in a fun and positive environment.
