About Me
I have taught or TA'd college courses in these subjects and more, which means, in addition to a firm grasp on the material, I have a good perspective on how assignments are graded and what professors are seeking from their students. I completed my undergraduate education at Tulane University, where I double majored in Environmental Studies and Studio Art. I went on to receive my Master's of Science in Environmental Studies from the University of Oregon, where I focused on combining ecology and history to analyze long term environmental problems in the South African savanna. My teaching philosophy is relaxed and personalized. In my experience, there are many students who need more than what large classes can provide, either because they need one-on-one time to grasp tricky concepts in a fast moving course, or because they are ahead of the class and want to perfect their assignments, which many instructors simply don't have time to help with. I tailor the help I give to the objective a student has--from needing to scrape together a passing grade to striving for that perfect essay, I streamline or add depth to the material being studied. I am a strong believer in a well rounded liberal arts education--being interdisciplinary has served me well, and I'm excited to help others connect and synthesize the subjects they study.
