- I am currently in my first year of my MBA at Boston University.
About Me
I am attending school to pursue work in Education Consulting or Education Policy. Before Boston University I spent three years teaching reading as a member of Teach for America. My students started two years behind in Reading but ended each year on grade level or above (averaging 3.3 years of growth). An avid reader, I took time to learn best teaching practices adjusting to learning styles and standards. I know how to develop and execute aligned lesson plans, while making lessons fun and engaging so students can be engrossed in the learning. Before teaching I studied History and Anthropology at Columbia University where I also served as a tutor for four years. I have spent the last three years as a reading teacher, leading my students to the top scores in Oklahoma City and the top 5 scores for reading growth in the Kipp Charter School Network. I have received teacher training with Kipp, Teach for America, Skillful Teacher specifically centered on Teaching Reading. I have taught 5th and 6th Grade for three years, I have a teaching certificate in Elementary Education and Early Childhood Education where I scored in the top 10% of all students to take the exam. I majored in Ancient Greek history at Columbia University with a minor in Anthropology. I have studied European History, American History and am an avid reader of politics/government. During my spare time I am constantly reading and learning more so I can best teach it.
