About Me

I have been playing guitar for 13 years and teaching for the past 5 years. I have an Associates Degree in Music and I'm working towards a Bachelors of Music in Composition from Columbia College. I have taught students from all age groups and skill levels in my home, as well as at different music stores. My favorite styles to teach are classical guitar, finger-style guitar(including folk, blues, jazz) and contemporary electric guitar. I find that the greatest progress in learning music comes from a balance of setting realistic goals and having fun in that process. I am able to help with learning classical and jazz sheet music, improvisation, technique, and preparation for performances. I have 10 years experience as a performer and I can help take my students' playing to the next level whether it be as a casual guitarist or a performing musician. My goal as a music teacher is to help students learn a solid set of musical pieces or songs in their entirety so that they can take those pieces/songs with them even after my job is done.
