I am a driven, positive, affirming tutor who is happy to help students in any way he can. I graduated magna cum laude from Dartmouth College in 2020, and I obtained my Master's in Political Science from the University of Toronto in 2022. In 2016, I received an SAT score of 1550. That year, I also received a 5 on my AP exams in Calculus AB, English Language, U.S. History, and U.S. Government. I am happy to tutor students in mathematics, English, and social sciences (e.g., history, government). I especially enjoy tutoring pre-algebra and algebra. I believe in a practice-based approach in which I take students step-by-step through the concepts at hand. After practicing together with my guidance, the student will soon be able to apply what they have learned on their own.

I am currently a student of the University of Nevada Las Vegas (UNLV). I am working toward a Bachelor of Sciences in Biological Sciences degree with a concentration in Cell and Molecular Biology. Since my high school years, I have worked tirelessly through the community, tutoring my peers in my school's magnet program and children with learning disabilities for a nonprofit organization dealing with autism research. Though I tutor a variety of subjects, I am most interested in Biology, Chemistry, and Mathematics. In all my years as a tutor, I have always tried to stress the importance of education in changing one's life to my students, being a firm believer in the power of knowledge and education's role in bringing out the best of people. In my leisure time, I enjoy running, tennis, pleasure reading to enrich my mind, and playing the ever soothing melodies of the piano.

I'm a sophomore at USC studying Biomedical Engineering. In high school, I maintained a 4.0 GPA while participating in organizations like Mu Alpha Theta so that I could tutor struggling math students in subjects ranging from Algebra to Calculus III. Seeing how comfortable I was in the environment really made an impact on me, and I want to continue that experience tutoring through Varsity Tutors both online and in person. Students I have tutored before in math and standardized testing subjects tell me that my strategies and quick methods for arriving at solutions saves them a great deal of time and energy as they take their exams, which reaffirms my passion and love of tutoring. In my classroom experiences, I found that sometimes the methods that were taught were just too confusing, so then I either created or looked up better ways that secured a better grade for me in the class; the idea that the same problem can be solved in many ways is an idea I try to impart in all of my students so that they can feel comfortable using a process they picked out instead. In my free time, Iove to watch movies, play Super Smash Bros, listen to new music, and read articles on Flipboard.

I am a recent graduate from Tufts University with a major in International Relations and a minor in Economics. I have been helping students since I was in middle school working with students of all ages from kindergarten to college. Prior to spending four years at Tufts, I attended a boarding school in Massachusetts where I was committed to tutoring middle school students at a local Boys and Girls' Club for all four years. I always enjoyed seeing the energy of younger students who were eager to learn and their visible improvements. I also worked as a teaching assistant for an SAT prep center where I tutored SAT verbal and writing along with SAT II literature and math. I moved to Las Vegas a few months ago after finishing up college, and I would love to get back to working with students on a regular basis because I understand the importance of education and enjoy helping and seeing results. My favorite subject to teach is SAT because with the right help it is a standardized test that can see huge improvements in scores. Writing section is especially my forte because I think that grammar is the basic building block of the English language that deserves a little more attention in school. I feel a great sense of fulfillment when students start to understand the different structures of English sentences and appreciate such knowledge. In my spare time, I like to stay active and go to yoga classes, including antigravity yoga, and drive to national parks for fresh air. I am also a big foodie who enjoys regular trips to different restaurants with friends and an avid movie fan. I look forward to meeting with students here in Las Vegas!

I am a freshman Computer Science major enrolled in the McCormick School of Engineering at Northwestern University. I have a passion for teaching students, and I am experienced with having to give one-on-one guidance in teaching many concepts. Tutoring is very rewarding for me because I am driven to help others and give whatever knowledge I have gained over the years in every field. I also have experience dealing with situations in which students are not quickly or readily grasping concepts, and I have developed the patience to handle these situations. Teaching is just as rewarding for the student as it is for me, because I am thrilled when I see others achieve, and I would love to be part of the process. In addition to high school AP courses and test prep, I have taken college level multivariable calculus, linear algebra, physics electricity/magnetism and mechanics, computer programming (c++, matlab, LISP/Scheme), Dynamics of Systems, and Mechanics of Systems.

I am currently studying for my Bachelors of Science in Electrical Engineering at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. I tutor my peers at the university level, but enjoy working with younger students as well. While I tutor a variety of subjects, I love tutoring Math and English! I find that students develop an appreciation for Math and English when they thoroughly understand these subjects, and it is my goal to develop this understanding in each of my students.

I am Cassie Bishop, and for seven years, I have been dedicated to helping students of different age groups (from middle school to college) in mostly math and science. As someone driven to become a professor, I love to teach and have a great passion for sharing my knowledge with others! I am most passionate about math and hard sciences, such as biology, chemistry, and physics and have most experience tutoring middle school, high school, and college students. My mission is to develop students' problem-solving skills so that they can get to the answers on their own to not only improve their homework scores but also help on quizzes and tests through better knowledge of the material. I am currently an undergraduate at St. John's University in Queens, New York. I am currently pursuing a degree with a major in Economics and minors in Government and Politics and Legal Studies. I have a wide range of interests and have gone to Math/Science schools for most of my life which gives me a good base in all sorts of subjects from Math to Science to English. In my spare time I also like to read, draw, and I am currently teaching myself Computer Science and Chinese. I am a patient teacher who can explain problems in many different ways according to how individual students learn best. I only ask that you know and explain to me what topics you do not know or get so far. I know that every student can learn a subject with a combination of practice and patience, but I insist upon consistent effort and sessions. As an educator I do not support last minute cramming as the primary learning method of content for students as it does not lead to retention of material, mastery of larger themes, or the ability to differentiate between subtle differences when problem-solving on tests and exams. I will help my clients when they need extra sessions before Final Exams and AP Exams, but those who have been working the hardest throughout the school year to regularly improve will get preference over those students who are panicked at the last minute, but have put off meeting with me.

I love teaching patiently and accurately to achieve concrete goals. A National Merit scholar, a college student, and an aspiring writer, I encourage high achievement and creativity in all my students. With 2+ years of tutoring experience and 1+ years of teaching experience, both in-person and online, I will gladly adapt to your educational and personal needs! Primarily, I tutor the SAT and ACT. I have the most experience in tutoring English (up to 12th grade) and math (up to Algebra II/pre-calc). I can also tutor competitive Lincoln-Douglas and policy debate as well as Impromptu speech at a middle/high school level or general public speaking and argumentation. My favorite subjects are English, which I am pursuing at UNLV, and Speech & Debate, which I teach at a private school. I have an AP Honors Diploma and AP Scholar with Distinction Award from high school.

I'm a junior at MIT pursuing a B.S. in Computational Neuroscience, and a B.S. in Philosophy. Starting in high school, I have served in a multitude of teaching/tutoring roles, including: tutoring all levels of high school math (from pre-algebra to AP Calculus BC); teaching a six-week class on psychology to underserved high school students in the Boston area; teaching chemistry, biology, and computer science at a STEM summer camp to 6th-9th graders; working as a TA in a college-level philosophy seminar; and even teaching choreo for a hip-hop dance workshop series! And, though my teaching experience centers largely around STEM subjects, I also have a deep love for history, English, and philosophy, and am excited to work with students in these areas as well. I'm a 2016 graduate of Pepperdine University with my Bachelor of Arts in Chemistry. Currently I'm preparing to apply to optometry school; I hope to be accepted for the 2018-19 academic year. During my time in college, I was involved as a teaching assistant for General Chemistry I and II laboratory, as a tutor for General Chemistry I, as a member of the Regents Scholar Student Board, and as a "small group" leader through multiple organizations. I am a member of the sorority Pi Beta Phi and held the positions of Historian, Senior Transition Leader, and member of the Leadership and Nominating Committee during my undergraduate years. As far as tutoring goes, I offer my services to students of all ages and in numerous subjects. I particularly enjoy tutoring the STEM subjects. I also thoroughly enjoy working with female STEM students, which allows me to serve as a role model and to offer additional encouragement for my female students to not lose interest in STEM subjects. A large part of my tutoring style focuses on logical thinking for how to tackle new and difficult problems using previous knoledge and educated hypotheses; I have found that my students find both success and a boost in confidence using my methodology. I am a student at Vanderbilt University, majoring in Neuroscience while on the pre-med track. In the future, I hope to become a pediatrician. I have experience with and tutor in a wide range of subjects, and am most passionate about helping students with standardized exams. I know from personal experience that any exam score can be improved with studying and practice, no matter how frustrating or impossible it may seem. I am a graduate of the University of Chicago, with a bachelor's degree in psychology and linguistics. Currently, I am pursuing a master's degree in speech-language pathology at Teachers College, Columbia University. In the past, I have worked as a teacher's aide in a public school classroom, a mentor to middle school girls, an instructor and tutor at the literacy education organization 826, and a summer camp counselor. I am a lifelong learner, teacher, and researcher in the field of physics. I received a PhD in Physics from the University of Michigan and a BS in Physics from Rice University. I have four years of physics teaching experience at the University of Michigan, primarily undergraduate laboratory courses with an emphasis on electromagnetism, circuits, waves, optics, and real-world applications of these and other physical phenomena. Many of these courses, including one I helped design, focused on helping non-STEM students master physics concepts that may be difficult to grasp in a standard classroom setting. I have tutored in a variety of subjects since high school, but most recently I have spent several years helping students understand concepts and succeed in coursework throughout a large variety of college-level physics topics, from basic mechanics to advanced electrodynamics and special relativity.

I am currently studying molecular biology and I hope to work at a pediatric hospital after graduating from medical school. As an undergraduate, I am involved in volunteering organizations, photography, dance companies, and Asian-American political organizations.

I am currently a fourth year medical student in Indianapolis. I completed my undergraduate education at Indiana University Bloomington, where I majored in Biology and Spanish. I also completed two minors in Mathematics and Chemistry. While at IU, I worked for the Department of Mathematics and Department of Spanish. I also worked as a Peer Tutor for the IU Athletics Department, tutoring in several subjects including statistics, chemistry, physics, and Spanish. I graduated from college with a 4.0, and I entered medical school shortly thereafter. Since coming to medical school, I have excelled in all of my pre-clinical coursework, and I currently rank in the Top 20% of my class. I feel very comfortable and confident tutoring other students in a variety of subjects from math and science to Spanish. I like to think that the same techniques I have used to excel in all phases of my education can be easily adapted to other students and help you achieve your academic goals, just as I have!

I'm a rising junior at Brown University studying biomedical engineering. I have lots of experience in middle school through college level instruction in STEM and SAT/ACT prep. My goal is to provide a fun and productive learning environment by only teaching subjects that I am passionate about.

I am a junior at Purdue University studying Aerospace Engineering and am part of the Air Force ROTC program. I have 6 years of tutoring experience at places including Kumon, Mathnasium, and Purdue University. I have worked with kids of all ages from kindergarten to sophomores in college, each with their own set of unique strengths, and tutored a variety of subjects, including calculus, trigonometry, geometry, thermodynamics, chemistry, and physics. Like many of my previous students, I struggled to understand concepts that I was being taught and was a terrible test taker. However, I found ways to overcome my obstacles and develop an better intuition for what I was learning. I believe that it is only this intuition and understanding that helps overcome these obstacles. My least favorite thing to see people be discouraged, so with a little bit of guidance and reassurance, I want to show people that they are capable of anything they put their mind to.

I'm a recent college graduate with degrees in Biological Sciences and Russian from Ohio University. During my time there, I tutored students in a variety of subjects, including biology, chemistry, and Spanish. In addition, I worked as both a peer advisor and teaching assistant, which gives me insight into the learning strategies and study skills that students need to succeed. I am in the process now of applying for PhD programs in Computational Biology. I have done research in the field of freshwater ecology and am anticipating the publication of a paper I co-authored in the next several months.
