Hi! I'm a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where I earned my degree in Economics and French. For over six years, I've worked with students from middle school through college, tutoring in a variety of settings: one-on-one, in small groups, and virtually. My subject specialties include French (all levels), math (including Algebra, Pre-Calculus, and Calculus), Economics (micro, macro, and quantitative methods), Statistics, and programming (including Python, SQL, and Stata). I've helped students prepare for standardized tests, strengthen classroom performance, and gain confidence in their academic abilities. My approach to tutoring is student-centered and highly adaptive. I strive to meet each student where they are and tailor my teaching to their unique learning style and pace. I use clear explanations, real-world examples, and interactive problem-solving to make concepts more accessible and engaging. I believe in fostering a supportive environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes, and steadily improving. Whether I'm helping a high school student master French grammar or guiding a college student through econometrics, I bring patience, structure, and enthusiasm to every session.

In considering the credentials of a tutor, intelligence and knowledge of content material is foremost. As a High School and College Scholar, I participated in many honors courses. I graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor's of Arts in Anthropology. I've also earned a 4.0 on all my college work done post graduation as needed for my continuing education and to maintain my teaching certificate. However, knowledge has to be paired with an ability to teach. I am a natural story teller and "explain-er", and I excel in making difficult concepts easy to understand. I love all aspects of science and really enjoy helping my students develop a love for science as well.I have been given the honor and responsibility of teaching science students for over 19 years. In that capacity I was charged with ensuring an engaging and challenging study of subjects ranging from Life Sciences- such as biology, ecology, anatomy, and heredity; to Physical Sciences- covering electricity, force, motion and machines; and Earth Sciences subjects of earthquakes, volcanoes, weather and astronomy.I want my students to excel and will provide frequent updates and progress reports.I look forward to helping you reach and then surpass your learning goals and objectives.

My name is Steven B. Glass, Sr. I have dedicated my life investing in children for over twenty-five years. I believe children are the most precious investment and are the future to keep our country and world strong. I earned my Bachelor of Science degree from Rust College with a minor in English, which is my best subject. I earned Certification in Special Education from the University of Mississippi.I would love to tutor students in the areas of reading, grammar, writing, and study skills. My teaching philosophy is that I believe that all students can learn if their individual needs are met. I believe in the art and science teaching. As the tutor, I will follow a framework of organized steps to present lessons and they are: prior learning or anticipatory set, presentation of the lesson, guided practice, check for understanding, closure, and independent practice. Then, of course, I will provide solutions to problems with homework.

My approach to teaching is an active one. I engage students in discussions that foster higher level thinking. I believe all children can learn, therefore I have high expectations for my students. It is always my duty to create an atmosphere that is conducive to learning. I include interesting learning activities into my lessons that grab the attention of the learners and inspire them to learn. I like for the students I encounter to explore meaning, engage in critical thinking, and conduct their own experiences. My ultimate goal is to improve student achievement with a quality of instruction that prepares students to influence the future.

I graduated from Ashford University in 2017 receiving my bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education. Growing up I had a few teachers in my life who really helped me learn in a unique way that was best for me, and it changed my life. I knew then that I wanted to become a teacher and help others in the same way that I was helped. I have experience with teaching many different grade levels both online and in classroom. I have also taught a broad range of subjects such as English, Phonics, Math, Science and Social Studies. I believe that it is important when teaching to use the "I do, we do, you do" method. With this method there are 3 stages. Stage 1 is the "I do" stage used when introducing material, I will model how it is done fully explaining it along the way. Then we will move to stage 2 the "we do" stage where we work together on the objectives. Finally, we finish with the 3rd stage the "you do" stage. This is where the student can complete the objectives independently and confidently. Let's not forget that there is also plenty of practice to build confidence in each skill, because practice makes perfect. I love working with students and do my best to make learning fun and engaging for each student. I believe that children at any age learn best in a fun and positive environment.
