Paula
Certified Middle School Tutor
Paula
BA Vanderbilt University
1+ Years Tutoring

That Jeopardy! contestant audition wasn't a fluke — Paula is genuinely the kind of person who absorbs information across disciplines for fun, which turns out to be exactly what middle schoolers need when they're bouncing between pre-algebra, science, and essay writing in a single homework session. Her psychology and communication studies training gives her a read on how a student processes information, so she can shift her approach mid-session when something isn't landing. Saniya
BA Rhodes College
8+ Years Tutoring

A neuroscience degree from Rhodes College — plus a chemistry and English minor — means Saniya can genuinely cover both sides of the middle school workload, from pre-algebra and science to reading and writing, without faking fluency in any of them. She's continued auditing anatomy and physiology courses since graduating, so the science content stays sharp, and her English training gives her a real handle on the essay-structuring and grammar skills that sixth and seventh graders are just starting to wrestle with. Sydney
BA Mercer University
5+ Years Tutoring

Ten years of tutoring across a wide age range means Sydney has watched the same patterns repeat: a fifth grader who breezed through math suddenly stalls in sixth grade when fractions meet decimals, or a confident reader freezes up when asked to write a structured paragraph about what they just read. Her Spanish and psychology coursework sharpens both sides of that equation — the language arts scaffolding and the awareness of how a middle schooler's confidence shapes their willingness to even try. Ominira
MS University of California-San Francisco • BA Oral Roberts University
4+ Years Tutoring

A first-generation college student who had to teach herself how to study, organize, and advocate academically, Ominira knows exactly what it looks like when a middle schooler hasn't been handed those skills yet — because she built them from scratch. Her Multicultural Education master's and experience as an academic success coach and paraprofessional mean she covers English, writing, math, and science at this level, but her real edge is teaching the study habits and organizational routines that keep a sixth or seventh grader from drowning when homework suddenly comes from five directions at once.

Joseph
MS London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art • BA University of Dallas
9+ Years Tutoring

An English degree and a Master's in Acting might seem like an unusual combination for a middle school tutor, but Joseph uses both — the English training anchors reading, writing, and grammar support, while the performance background means he knows how to hold a twelve-year-old's attention and make a dry textbook chapter feel like something worth engaging with. He covers math through pre-algebra and science as well, and his 32 ACT and MENSA membership speak to genuine range across subjects. Rated 5.0 by families.

A public relations degree means Jennifer spent college learning to write clearly, read critically, and present ideas persuasively — skills that map directly onto the English, writing, and reading demands middle schoolers face as assignments get longer and expectations sharpen. She also covers math at this level and brings a 32 ACT and six years of tutoring behind her, so she's comfortable pivoting from essay organization to pre-algebra in a single session. Five years working with elementary-aged kids gave Monroe a clear read on what foundational skills tend to be shaky when students hit middle school — and a political science major's daily diet of reading, writing arguments, and analyzing evidence maps directly onto the ELA and social studies demands that ramp up around sixth grade. His 35 ACT and 1500 SAT also mean he can sharpen the math and science sides when homework piles up across subjects in a single evening. Rated 4.9 by families.

Two years tutoring at a refugee center — working with everyone from eight-year-olds learning basic multiplication to adults tackling essay structure — gave Akshadha an unusual ability to gauge exactly how much scaffolding a student needs before stepping back. Her biology degree anchors the science and math side of middle school, but she's equally comfortable switching gears to reading comprehension or writing in a single session. Rated 4.9 by families.

Noah
Mechanical Engineer, Mechanical Engineering The University of Alabama
9+ Years Tutoring

Engineering training is essentially applied middle school math and science taken to its logical extreme — so Noah can trace a pre-algebra concept or a basic physics question all the way forward to show a student why it actually matters, which tends to land differently than 'you'll need this someday.' His mechanical engineering background also means he's wired to break multi-step problems into smaller pieces, whether that's a word problem in math class or organizing a science fair project. Nuclear engineering at Georgia Tech means Corey's daily life revolves around heavy math and science — pre-calculus, physics, chemistry — so when a middle schooler needs help connecting their pre-algebra homework to a physical science unit in the same sitting, he can move between subjects without skipping a beat. His 33 ACT and 4.9 rating from families back up what his course load suggests: he's sharp across disciplines and knows how to make technical material accessible to younger students still building their academic confidence.

I am working my way to med-school and a bright future. Active in both the Honors program and Center for Undergraduate Research, I have developed a great work ethic which I hope to impart to my students! I've spent the past two summers teaching private swim lessons to children and adults throughout my community. Turning a person's goal into reality is the greatest thrill I've known! Similarly, I spent two semesters as a mentor at the Thomas Lay After-School Program in Athens, GA. There, I both tutored and befriended the children of the program. My favorite memory occurred during mandatory reading hours. A stubborn, apathetic boy refused to read any books. Rather than becoming frustrated, I asked him "If you could be any animal, what would you be?" I knew the library had a large section of zoology books, and hoped to pique his interest. Immediately, he responded "A fish!" The following weeks were filled with shark, octopus, and whale books. To this day, his transformation from disinterested to engaged and motivated fuels my desire to mentor today's youth.
