I am passionate about optimizing the learning of my students through the simplification of difficult concepts. My goal is to empower students to practice and improve upon the things they find most difficult. A class with me involves the use of many examples that are related to the concept the student is struggling with. Even though theory is important, it is often more useful to practice in order to understand the theory.

I am a graduate of Brigham Young University with a Bachelor's degree in manufacturing engineering. I am also a Salt Lake Community College graduate. I love building things, challenging the status quo, and studying the way the world works. I have tutored for just over three years, and I tutor physics, algebra, reading, and test prep. Physics is one of my passions because I love learning about the world around me. Physics is intuitive and learning the laws that govern the world around us helps expand our understanding. I am a very hands-on tutor. I believe that working directly with things and especially working on projects of interest helps us learn and make connections better than anything else. I love analogies, experiments, and anything else that helps bring the problems off the page and into the student's life. I love to invent and build things and I spend most of my spare time working on humanitarian teams through my university or sewing my own clothing.

As a dedicated educator with a Bachelor's degree in Industrial and Labor Relations from Cornell University, I bring over 10 years of tutoring and classroom experience across a wide spectrum of subjects, including AP Spanish Language & Culture, High School English, Debate, Essay Writing, Reading Comprehension, College-Level Writing, foundational ELA skills, as well as Math, Social Studies, and Science. I am currently an undergraduate student at Rice University pursuing a bachelor of science in biochemistry and cell biology on the pre-med track. One of my most memorable experiences in the medical field has been working as a research intern at Texas Children's Hospital and collaborating with genetic specialists to publish a research paper about a rare genetic disease. Medicine is truly one of my greatest passions, and biology has been one of my favorite subjects to tutor through the peer mentorship program at my high school. Through this program, I have also extensively tutored math (from middle school math all the way through IB Mathematics) and find myself drawn by the methodical nature of the subject. Many times, I find that students simply label math as "difficult" because the concepts are brand new and numbers seem like a foreign language. Relating math concepts to simpler everyday ones is one of the many strategies I use when tutoring math, and I have found a lot of success through it. Throughout high school, I have been very active in my school community as the Editor-in-Chief of the school newspaper, president of the Speech and Debate Team, and president and founder of the Random Acts of Kindness Club. Through these roles, I have mentored younger students in areas such as writing, research, and public speaking. Additionally, I am fluent in 4 languages (English, Urdu, Arabic, and Spanish), although my favorite one to teach is Spanish. Attending an international school has emphasized to me the importance of diversity, inclusion, and tolerance, and I believe that learning a new language is one of the best ways to reinforce these ideals. In my spare time, you can find me engrossed in arts and crafts, running my Etsy store, or volunteering my local art museum's kids' crafts classes. I also love listening to music, creating music on my violin, and singing various genres.

I am a master's student at Brown University. I graduated from Howard University with a Bachelor of Science in Biology and a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology. While I tutor a wide variety of subjects, I am most passionate about Spanish, math, and English with over 5 years of teaching experience. A major focus of mine, throughout my undergraduate career and to the present, is to create opportunities to empower and educate people by making them aware of resources available to them and leading efforts to make them more accessible. Through the power of teaching, interpreting, translating and advising I've been able to help individuals make use of every resource available to them and equip them with the tools needed to become a source of instruction and support for others. While I enjoy anything from history to philosophy, my true passion lies in biology, medicine and foreign languages. I find that these subjects compliment each other when coupled together. Through the simplification of language and concepts and the ability to make such content available to more people in their own language it is possible to create a more equitable and welcoming environment in fields that can be intimidating for many people. I aspire to follow a similar philosophy while connecting with students by creating a welcoming atmosphere and attending to their specific needs and goals so that their success and ability to help themselves and be resourceful extends long beyond our tutoring session and in many areas of their life. I find helping others and making their journey a little easier than mine to be very fulfilling and I cannot think of a better way to pave my way to my eventual goal of becoming a cardiologist. There is always something new to learn and finding the right approach is key because we all operate differently but it is possible to overcome obstacles and gain a deeper appreciation for a subject with the right instruction and approach to learning. One of my favorite things to do is to learn from others whether that's a random person at my local coffee shop or a citizen of a different state or country when I have the opportunity to travel. I also like reading (book suggestions are always appreciated), running, lifting, volunteering and I don't mind occasionally losing some sleep to go see my favorite artists play in concerts.

I am at an expert level in many math and economics areas. The key to my process is helping you not just 'get the answer' but also understanding the process of how to get there.
