Not only has nursing been a passion for me but education has as well. Early on in my nursing career I fell in love with teaching others. I loved the empowerment students began to feel when they were able to understand difficult concepts. I returned to work as an instructor at the same college I obtained my first degree.I tutor and instruct students on a variety of subjects related to the nursing field. Concepts such as fundamentals of Biology to complex disease process and how it relates to the body as well as Physical assessments.I personally feel that we are always students in a constant state of learning. As a nursing instructor, I have learned from my students as much as they have learned from me. I love the mutual relationship built between the instructor and students.

I am a board certified acute care nurse practitioner. I have over ten years experience in cardiology and electrophysiology as a NP. I currently work part time in the hospital setting. As a nurse, I worked in neurology, neurosurgery and intensive care. I believe the human body is an amazingly complex work of art and mechanics. All of the systems of the body need to work together for optimal health. A major strong point of nursing is understanding no body system is separate and being able to look at a patient in totality. I love to teach and see the "ah-ha" moment when those concepts makes sense and can fit into that bigger picture of the human body. I also love when I get to have one of those moments as well. I believe you should never stop learning. If you stop learning, you stop growing. I spend my spare time gardening, cooking, hiking and with my children.

My goal is to help you be successful and meet the goals you have set for yourself. I have recently obtained my DNP at Chamberlain College of Nursing. I also, received my BSN and MSN at Chamberlain. I have been a nurse since 2009 and love nursing! I have a nurse educator for over five years and find it rewarding when the students put all the pieces together! Along wit teaching nursing one students I provide support/ Tutoring to students in other levels. Not all students learn the dame way and that is why I adapt my teaching techniques to each individual student.

As a nurse, I have grown in my passion in educating my patients on their diagnoses, upcoming procedures, new medications, and discharge instructions. I also love teaching friends and family about medical phenomenons. Outside of work, I enjoy exploring the outdoors and going on hikes year round.

I currently work as a Registered Nurse in the Emergency Department with certifications in adult and pediatric trauma nursing. I have worked as a nurse educator in both the clinical and classroom setting and taught fundamentals, pharmacology, pathophysiology, adult medical surgical nursing, pediatrics, OB, emergency medicine, NCLEX prep and much more. With my significant science and medical background, I feel comfortable teaching students about many different subjects.I love teaching and my goal is for my students to succeed. My undergraduate degree was in nursing science. I have been tutoring students for over thirty years, preparing each to pass standardized tests for entry into a healthcare profession. Being the only child and coming from a very poor environment, I learned the opportunities that having an education can provide for you and your family. Education improved the quality of my life and my family. As a creative and innovative educator, leader, and professional administrator, I thrive on challenges and change. Nurturing and encouraging the lifelong learning of students is critical in the role of an educator. Techniques like case studies, activities, discussions, and even humor can prompt students to think critically, creatively, and explore their natural curiosity. As an educator, students will feel that no question is too silly to ask. My educational beliefs are based on the fact that learning is a possibility for everyone. Learning occurs when the educator is able to link, in the brain, a bridge from the lack of knowledge to new knowledge, then the student comprehends.
