I am currently a Full-time student at the Atlantic Acting School. Before I took the leap into performing arts, I was an auditor for 3 years with Grant Thornton where I received my ACA qualification (British equivalent of CPA). It's been a challenging but exciting transition.I've moved around a lot in my life. I was born in the US, but my family moved to Beijing, China when I was 7. We moved back to the US when I was 14 to attend high school. For college, I graduated with Honours from the University of Edinburgh in Scotland with a Masters in Economics. I then worked in Hong Kong for 1 year at an Economic policy think tank, before moving back to England to work as an auditor.In my spare time, I love to watch as much theatre and eat as much good food as I can afford. I am also an avid traveler, skier and photographer.I look forward to helping my students reach their personal and academic goals!

Currently I am a senior East Asia Studies major at ASU. During my sophomore year, I began studying Mandarin Chinese. Learning Chinese has become an integral part of my college experience, mainly because of my decision to join the ASU Chinese Language Flagship. Flagship is a competitive program designed to help members reach a "superior" level of language proficiency. As a Flagship member, I have participated in special Flagship classes, weekly tutoring, and a two-month summer study. For my Flagship capstone, I am preparing to study for a year abroad at Tianjin Normal University in China. In addition to Chinese, I am also passionate about English. I am an avid reader, and I especially enjoy books on politics and philosophy. In the future, I hope to travel and teach English in many different countries, in Asia and around the world. I also plan to attend graduate school, and eventually I would like to teach in a university. In my free time, I enjoy playing guitar and going to KTV with my friends. I am a very patient and relaxed person, and I believe that the best teacher is someone who learns alongside their students.

Reflecting upon my past educational experiences, I have always appreciated instructors who have taken a personal and individualistic approach. Life is about more than immediate education, and an instructor who could encourage and motivate me to work hard on my own accord were the ones I remembered the most. As an academic tutor, I aim to not only provide excellent quality tutoring and improve scores, but also to connect with the student and improve other equally important qualities such as personal motivation and critical thinking skills.It is my personal belief that after a solid knowledge foundation, critical thinking and self motivation are the two qualities that set someone apart from a great student to an exceptional one. I love economics and all the math behind it as well as the visual language of film and the humanistic touch of it. I believe in expanding the students' world by teaching not only facts and theories but the implication behind them in addition to sufficient application practice. I want the students to foster intellectual curiosity as they delve into a particular subject. Born and raised in Beijing for 18 years, I can also teach Chinese and the rich culture around it. My Bachelor of Science degree from UCLA is in Chemistry, and I have a Master of Science in Chemistry from Georgia State University. From there, I obtained a PhD in Molecular Biology and Biochemistry from UC Irvine. I have tutored high school students who went on to attend top institutions. Additionally, during my PhD years I mentored undergraduates who went on to attend great institutions, as well, for their professional and graduate degrees.
