History Tutoring review by Oliver in Cranston, RI
We went over a plan of action for her assignments in Caribbean History. She has some reading to do (Chapter 3 in the textbook), and an online quiz to take, this weekend. Next, we continued our work on her practice test in Algebra. The problems in this module are about solving for a variable and algebraic manipulation of equations. Finally, we worked on her Astronomy homework assignment, which went over how the seasons work. I asked her what she thought the right answer was and why, and would try and explain what the right answer was if she got it wrong.

Student one and I continued working on five themes of geography, including locations and place. Specifically, we worked on applying the five themes to a particular place. We also worked on absolute location, practicing latitude and longitude. Student two and I worked on vocabulary from the American Revolution and covered the Bill of Rights in matching activity.

History Tutoring review by Ashley in Cranston, RI
Today was our last history session, so we spent our time reviewing various topics in order to help the student prepare for her final on Thursday. We specifically looked over notes and questions on the Cold War, Indian Independence and African independence movements, so she should have a good idea of the topics that she is comfortable with as well as those that she needs to focus on more in preparing for her test.

History Tutoring review by Zarrin in Cranston, RI
Today, the student and I reviewed the explorer De Soto and his expeditions. We analyzed his reign as a friend and partner of Francisco Pizarro and as an individual ruler. We also analyzed his relationship with the Native Americans and the king of Spain. For math, he moved onto multiplying and dividing exponents. He also converted negative exponents into fractions. Finally, for English, the student chose an essay prompt and began to practice writing thesis statements. Overall, he has been a pleasure to teach this week. His attitude towards learning and tutoring has improved greatly and I wish him the very best in high school.

History Tutoring review by Johannah in Cranston, RI
We completed a review of the questions for Part II of her assignment due tonight. We researched the authors of her sources and discussed why/why not they were credible. We made use that all of her sources were in Chicago style format and in order for the annotated bibliography. She will submit her assignment tonight and continue to work on extra credit assignments. She should read in more detail all of her sources over the weekend and we discussed what she should be looking for and how to structure the argument for her paper. Next week, we will make sure her paper is complete and review for her final exam.

History Tutoring review by Eric in Cranston, RI
We discussed the post-WWI situation in Russia and a number of eastern European countries, focusing on the Bolshevik Revolution and the turmoil that characterized territorial disputes of the 1919-1925 era. The student was primarily interested in learning more about the Polish-Soviet War of 1920, and he seems to be quite knowledgeable about Soviet history in general, especially for a 7th grade student. I gave him an introduction to conducting historical research, which includes topics such as the need for primary source documents in studying diplomatic relations, the correct use of bibliographies/citations in finding more information about a topic of interest, etc. He looks forward to learning more about Polish-Soviet diplomacy in the post-WWI era.
