I have instructed in assorted fields, from English to religion and theology, and in many different places, from Hong Kong to Toronto. I am very passionate about helping students gain proficiency in various types of mathematics and other courses. With 2 years of prior tutoring experience and a plethora of courses taken, I have a true passion for what math can do and how it can translate to real-world applications. I believe in hands on learning and working with students to break down complex problems with tips and methods to help them learn and retain information.

Madison Lesgart (formerly Elder) graduated from UCLA in 2021 with bachelor's degrees in history, German, and Egyptology. While a student at UCLA, Madison taught in the history department, co-founded the Bruins Supporting Veterans student organization, and produced three publications. Her book, Beside the Nine: the Supreme Court through the Eyes of its Law Clerks is currently available through many online retailers, including Amazon. Madison is now in the middle of her second semester of law school at the Villanova University Charles Widger School of Law. She has had regular experience tutoring since 2015.

I'm a junior at Yale University pursuing a double major in Linguistics and Theater. I have experience tutoring in a variety of subjects, but I'm particularly excited to help students with writing, critical reading, and SAT or ACT preparation. I had a strong support network of teachers and mentors throughout middle and high school, so I understand firsthand the importance of thoughtful, individualized educational enrichment. I seek to meet each student where they are in order to help them reach their greatest potential! When I'm not tutoring, you might find me performing improv comedy, playing saxophone, or trying to write the next great American musical.

I'm a PhD at Harvard studying German philosophy and classics (Greek and Latin). Next year, I will be starting law school to pursue my professional passion, tax law. I am deeply committed to the language and LSAT skills I've developed and I love to tutor students of all levels in these subjects. I can't imagine a life without teaching. My favorite part of teaching is helping students come to love -- or at least appreciate -- the details that make up complex subject matters. My favorite moment with any student is when the student realizes how fascinating a subject matter is after really mastering all of the "dry" details. When my students start internalizing the LSAT or languages I am teaching them, I know I am doing my job.

I'm an attorney, Ph.D. student, and aspiring law professor. I am working on my dissertation for my Ph.D. in Law at Yale, having previously earned my J.D. magna cum laude from the University of Michigan Law School. I practiced for three years at a large law firm in Washington, D.C., primarily representing television stations. I also speak German, having learned it as a high school exchange student, majored in it in college, and having spent a summer working in a Berlin law office. As much as I love the law--and I really do!--I also love teaching. I recently spent a semester teaching as an Adjunct Professor of Law at a law school; that experience confirmed for me that teaching is what I was meant to do. I have had numerous other teaching and tutoring experiences, including working for my university's tutoring service as an undergraduate student and later working for my law school as a tutor.

I have a PhD (Yale) in history and an MBA (UCLA) in finance. I have excellent writing and research skills, and have made extensive use of German and French -- spoken and for research. My work in finance has required skills with mathematics. I have taught university classes in finance and international economics. Another area of much interest, related to my background in history and public policy, is US constitutional law. I published a book on monetary history (*Gold, France, and the Great Depression*) , and a more recent book of essays on topics in economics and diplomatic history (http://books.ksplibrary.org/978-625-7501-75-0/ ) .... I have worked extensively on government-related projects, often in the greater Middle East. Effective tutoring should do more than impart techniques -- it should certainly do that -- it should help a student come away with some interest in and enthusiasm for the topic. (Soft evidence for the last is that my daughter earned a PhD in neuro-science, and credits me with inspiring her.)

Update: I completed a two-month full-time guest teacher assignment teaching World Languages Spanish to high school students (9th-12th) Spanish 1/2/3. By utilizing a student-centered learning approach, cultural competence, and equitable teaching, I support students with pedagogy rooted in inquiry, hypothesis, information gathering, problem-solving, and action. I encourage all students to adopt an open-minded approach, and provide support to gifted students, students with disabilities, English Language Learners, and Multilanguage Learners with equity. James Baldwin I am in my second year of grad school, pursuing a dual master's degree in K-8 Elementary Education and K-12 Special Education (Mild to Moderate Disabilities). With my education grad studies and BFA from the Rhode Island School of Design (RISD), I synthesize creativity and best practices in education to find creative ways of supporting learners. My pursuit and purpose is to guide with compassion and enthusiasm. I encourage students to take ownership of their learning. By promoting student agency, students empower themselves to achieve in academic, social, emotional, and behavioral development. As an ADHD adult, I enjoy working with ADHD students and adults experiencing anxiety + depression. What is effortful for our neurodivergent brains is also our superpower! In my career, I have lived and worked in NYC as an editorial photographer, actor, and dancer. I lived in Berlin and pursued performance art + music while honing my communications skills in digital art + copywriting in Marketing. In Los Angeles, I succeeded as a commercial and theatrical actor. My skill set is suited for collaboration with all students to support and develop their passion for learning, exploration, and critical thinking. I live in southeastern Washington State and teach in northeastern Oregon and southeastern Washington State public school districts.
