I'm Andy Thomason, and I turn curiosity into discovery. With over a decade of experience in science educationincluding four years teaching Pre-AP BiologyI specialize in making complex concepts come alive for learners of all ages. Whether it's guiding high schoolers through cellular processes or helping adults master professional skills, my approach blends hands-on learning, storytelling, and cutting-edge technology.
I'm passionate about bringing scienceand learning itselfto life. I've built human-sized AR cells, integrated augmented reality simulations, and designed interactive lessons that help students see, explore, and understand concepts in ways textbooks alone can't achieve. My goal is to meet each learner where they are, assess their strengths, and guide them to exceed their own expectations.
Beyond the classroom, I've led statewide professional development, coaching educators in pedagogy, curriculum design, and technology integration. I also bring real-world research experiencefrom marine mammal population studies to ethnobiological fieldworkinto my teaching, helping learners connect ideas to the living world.
Whether through interactive visuals, personalized guidance, or innovative problem-solving exercises, I'm here to make learning exciting, memorable, and effective. If you're ready to explore science in new waysor tackle challenging concepts with a guide who blends creativity, expertise, and a dash of tech magiclet's get started.

I’m a lifelong explorer of both the natural and imaginative worlds. Outside of teaching, I design and run immersive Dungeons & Dragons campaigns, often incorporating augmented reality (AR) tools to bring maps, creatures, and magical effects to life. I also enjoy building AR models and interactive experiences that blend technology and storytelling. In the natural world, I’m an avid birdwatcher and citizen scientist, contributing detailed observations, photos, and audio recordings to the Cornell Lab of Ornithology via the eBird platform. I combine fieldwork with tech-driven data analysis, tracking species, behaviors, and habitats over time. When I’m not creating fantastical worlds or observing the wild, I enjoy experimenting with innovative educational technologies, developing hands-on learning experiences, and exploring the intersection of science, creativity, and play.
