Certified Tutor
I am passionate about helping students because I deeply believe in education as a tool for growth, opportunity, and confidence. Every student brings unique strengths and goals, and nothing excites me more than seeing them make progress and discover their own potential.
I have extensive experience working with students of all ages and backgrounds. After graduating from the College of William & Mary summa cum laude with a degree in History, I spent two years teaching in Shenzhen, China, where I worked with students ranging from elementary school through high school. I then earned my J.D. from Boston College Law School, where I served as a Senior Editor of the Boston College Law Review. Alongside my legal and academic training, I bring years of tutoring experience in both the United States and abroad, focusing on helping students improve language skills, test performance, and overall confidence.
I tutor Mandarin Chinese (conversational and academic), SAT, LSAT, and GRE. As a native Mandarin speaker, I particularly enjoy teaching Chinese because it allows me to share both the language and culture, making lessons not only educational but also engaging and practical. I also love tutoring standardized tests, as I enjoy breaking down complex problems into approachable steps and giving students strategies to succeed under pressure.
My teaching philosophy is student-centered, encouraging curiosity, discipline, and confidence. I tailor lessons to each student's learning style and goals, whether that means structured test prep or relaxed conversational practice. My tutoring style is interactive and encouraging want students to leave each session with greater clarity and a sense of accomplishment.
Outside of tutoring, I am passionate about running and music. I will be running the New York City Marathon next year, and I also play violin in an orchestra. Both of these activities keep me disciplined, balanced, and creative qualities I bring into my teaching as well.
