I'm Melanie Larkins, and I hold dual MBAs (International Business) from Georgia State University and IAE Paris Sorbonne, and a graduate certificate in International Business from Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro. With over ten years of tutoring experience, I'm passionate about helping students discover their potential and build confidence in subjects that matter for their future.
I specialize in AP English Language and Literature, Environmental Science, Executive Functioning, Test Prep, Accounting, Excel, Spanish, Portuguese, Technology, and entry-level Chemistry. My teaching philosophy centers on meeting students where they are, assessing their unique learning styles, and tailoring my approach to foster engagement and understanding.
My career has taken me from the global stages of the United Nations and Fortune 500 companies to startups and universities. I have even served as Head Tutor for executive education programs at MIT and Yale. At Georgia State University, I serve as an advisor for a global business program, where I guide graduate students in responsible business practices. I've had the privilege of training everyone from C-suite executives to elementary school students, and I love adapting my teaching style to meet each learner exactly where they are.
I'm passionate about environmental topics and emerging technologies, believing that integrating these subjects can empower students to navigate complex challenges. When I'm not tutoring or working on sustainability projects, you'll often find me playing with my son and staying active through yoga practice and outdoor activities. I love combining my passion for wellness with my teaching – there's something powerful about the mind-body connection that enhances learning. Sports have always been a big part of my life. I've coached lacrosse for elementary through high school girls and spent years as a figure skating, basketball, and gymnastics coach for younger children. There's nothing quite like seeing a student master a new skill they thought was impossible! I'm also drawn to creative arts and global experiences. My international work has taken me around the world, and I love learning about different cultures and languages. This global perspective enriches my teaching and helps me connect with students from diverse backgrounds. Travel, reading, music, and exploring new technologies keep me curious and constantly learning (which I think makes me a better tutor). I believe that staying engaged with the world around us makes every subject more interesting and relevant. At heart, I'm someone who finds joy in helping others grow, whether that's on the lacrosse field, in a boardroom, or in our tutoring sessions together!
