I'm a tutor specializing in mathematics and physical sciences for students 12 years and older. I graduated college in 2020 with a B.S. double majoring in mathematics and chemistry and minor in statistics. During college, I spent three years teaching introductory-level lab courses in my university's chemistry department. Afterwards, I moved to Los Angeles and began working as a contractor with a private tutoring company, with which I stayed on doing online tutoring after moving away.
I specialize in teaching mathematics, as it's a particular passion of mine, and am comfortable with subjects ranging from middle-school algebra to undergraduate courses such as multivariate calculus and differential equations. I also frequently teach courses in high-school level and AP science subjects, particularly physics, chemistry, biology, and environmental science. The majority of my experience has been over Zoom teaching one-on-one or in small groups. I like to focus on understanding why a student has struggled with methods their current teacher has been using and tailor my approach, with a focus on developing intuitive understanding instead of memorizing techniques for solving problems and ensuring the student gets plenty of hands-on practice with the chance to ask questions.
I spend most of my free time reading literature, playing video games, and learning new things. I like to spend time teaching myself new fields of mathematics now that I'm no longer in school, and I've been recently trying to learn Russian. Some of my favorite authors are Thomas Pynchon, David Foster Wallace, and Vladimir Nabokov, while my favorite games include the Fallout series, the Metroid games, and the works of Hideo Kojima.
