As a dedicated educator with a Master's degree in Neuroscience from the University of Miami, I have almost 4 years of experience in tutoring and classroom instruction. I have taught courses including Biology (honors and college prep), Integrated Science, Physical Science, Anatomy and Physiology, Physical Science, Earth Space Science, Marine Biology, Environmental Science, Astronomy and Prealgebra.
While I enjoy teaching all of these courses, my favorite courses to teach are Biology, Anatomy and Astronomy since I am quite well-versed in these subjects and love to engage in thought-provoking discussions with my students regarding the content. I have worked with students from a variety of diverse backgrounds including students with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD).
My background in Psychology (I earned my bachelor's degree from San Diego State University) and training as a tutor/mentor has allowed me to develop an empathetic and personalized approach to teaching. My teaching philosophy centers on fostering curiosity and critical thinking, encouraging students to explore the intricate connections between concepts taught in the classroom and their every-day lives. I am able to provide individualized lesson plans and activities to cater to the needs of different learners. I strive to create a supportive and engaging learning environment where students feel empowered to ask questions and develop their understanding.
Outside of teaching, I enjoy watching sci-fi films/science news update videos and exploring nature, which further fuels my passion for science and allows me to share real-world applications with my students.

My interests and hobbies include doing arts and crafts, exploring nature either by finding new parks/walking trails or relaxing at the beach and watching a variety of movies and shows from science or history YouTube videos, to sci-fi thrillers, to anime, to my guilty pleasure (reality-TV shows). I also enjoy spending time with my husband who is a history teacher and taking care of my 3-legged cat, Opal.
