Charles: Taunton tutor
Certified Tutor
I am a graduate of the Missouri University of Science and Technology, where I received a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science with minors in Mathematics and Theatre. I tutor a variety of topics within Computer Science and Math, but I am most passionate about teaching is Introductory Programming (usually in Python, C, or similar languages). Programming has a reputation for inaccessibility that I strongly feel is unjustified, and my experience teaching these topics has given me valuable opportunities to help dispel this impression and demystify the field for my students. In particular, my experience has ranged from teaching introductory programming at a local middle school when I was in high school, to tutoring college students, some taking their own programming courses, and some simply wanting to learn something new. I enjoy tutoring and teaching in smaller groups because it affords me the opportunity to very specifically cater my lessons to students. There are many perspectives from which to approach Computer Science, and just as many ways to approach its pedagogy, so it is absolutely vital for an effective education that they be able to be brought into alignment. In my spare time, I enjoy reading, theatre (particularly that of the improvised variety), and talking about Star Trek.

In my spare time, I like to be involved with local theatre (particularly improv theatre). I do some acting and some tech work, and I really like theatrical lighting design. I also enjoy reading, movies, and the occasional board game.
