Assata: Arlington Heights tutor
Certified Tutor
Hello! My name is Assata, and I am excited to help students navigate the college application process as a dedicated and supportive college advisor. I am currently pursuing my Master of Public Health (MPH) at Emory University's Rollins School of Public Health, focusing on global health and maternal and child health. My educational journey also includes a Bachelor of Arts in Medical Anthropology and Global Health from the University of Washington, giving me a solid foundation in interdisciplinary thinking and research.
Throughout my academic and professional experiences, I have honed my skills in mentoring, strategic planning, and effective communication. As a Teaching Assistant for graduate-level courses and a Public Health Intern at the DeKalb County Medical Examiner's Office, I have developed a passion for guiding students to realize their full potential. I am committed to helping students find their unique voices, craft compelling personal statements, and strategically approach every aspect of their college applications.
My approach to advising is holistic and student-centered. I believe in fostering confidence, goal-setting, and personalized strategies that reflect each student's strengths, interests, and aspirations. Whether you need assistance with application essays, developing a competitive resume, or navigating financial aid options, I am here to provide knowledgeable and empathetic guidance.
Let's work together to make your college dreams a reality!

Degree: Emory University - Master's/Graduate, Public Health/Global Health
Outside of my academic and professional pursuits, I enjoy a range of hobbies and activities that keep me inspired and balanced. I am passionate about exploring the intersections of culture and health, which often leads me to read diverse literature and engage in global health discussions. Traveling and immersing myself in different cultures are among my favorite pastimes, as they broaden my perspective and deepen my commitment to health equity. Creative expression plays an important role in my life as well—I love cooking, especially experimenting with international cuisines, as a way to connect with my cultural roots and discover new flavors. In my downtime, you’ll often find me volunteering with community organizations focused on maternal and child health initiatives or playing with one of my many vintage film cameras. These interests keep me motivated and continuously learning, both personally and professionally
