I am very happy with our experience so far with Varsity Tutors. They matched my daughter with reading specialist Mary and she is wonderful! My 10 year old daughter feels happy after her sessions and believes her tutor has already helped her.

Certified Tutor

I am a graduate student and PhD candidate at York University in Toronto, with a BA in English Literature (minor: psychology) from Toronto Metropolitan University, and an MA from York University. I also have 9 years of experience as a teaching assistant in undergraduate courses at York University, working with students taking their foundational humanities courses as part of their undergraduate degrees. The courses I most enjoy focus on developing critical reading and writing skills using the history of literature and culture as our subject matter - from ancient Greece and Rome, medieval and early modern Europe, to the 19th and 20th centuries. I am experienced in working in groups of up to 25 students and one-on-one where we discuss and review course content, explore historical texts and ideas, and practice essay and exam writing skills. Traveling is a favorite hobby of mine, and I have fond memories of studying the Italian Renaissance up close in Florence, learning German in Konstanz, and taking in the history and culture in Mexico City and Coyoacan.
