Certified Tutor

I'm currently pursuing a Bachelor's in Science at Northeastern University. My main concentration is Biology but I'm also pre-med and working towards a minor in Engineering. From a young age, I have loved working with students and teaching them things that I am passionate about like math, English, science, and art! I have 4 cummulative years of peer mentoring in middle school and high school. I was always someone who wanted to do well in school, but I struggled with self-confidence and test anxiety. I was able to find amazing mentors through Varsity Tutors and other programs who helped me overcome these obstacles and I wish to do the same for other students. My philosophy for tutoring students is to try my best and tailor my teaching style to what works for the student, and this I achieve by getting to know the student and learning what their interests are so that I can apply those same soft skills to a subject they might find challenging. Personally, my favorite subjects are biology (specifically genetics and oncology), math, English, physics, history, and French. I like tutoring English because it gives me some insight to how the student might interpret things on their own and gives room for a conversation. This also helps me tailor my teaching methods to the students.
