Certified Tutor

As a certified, third-generation teacher with formal training in education from Baylor University, I have a deep understanding of how to effectively support students' learning and critical thinking at all ages. With over five years of experience teaching and tutoring in both in-person and online settings, I have worked with students from diverse backgrounds, including urban, suburban, and Title I schools. I have guided students through English literature, creative writing, reading, and more. I believe education is a powerful tool for personal growth and societal change, and I am dedicated to creating a positive learning environment that celebrates progress and focuses on each student's individual journey.

My teaching approach is centered around my students' interests and needs. I aim to have meaningful conversations and build genuine connections with the children I support. Whether we are analyzing the themes in To Kill a Mockingbird through mock trials or exploring philosophical questions in Edgar Allan Poe's short stories, I strive to create a comfortable and safe space where students can ask questions, share their thoughts, and follow their curiosity. In my classroom, we celebrate progress as success and see mistakes as opportunities to learn. I enjoy helping students build a love for reading, find their writing voice, discuss new ideas with peers, and connect their studies to their own lives and the world around them.

Outside the classroom, I am a published short story writer and poet. In addition to my teaching experience, I have worked in professional marketing, advertising, and magazine publishing. My passion, however, lies in teaching and supporting students. As a tutor, my goal is to help students develop the communication skills and confidence they need to become independent, successful learners who are prepared to face any challenge.
