Certified Tutor

I am a native Chinese who has lived in North America for 25 years. Becoming a Chinese teacher brings me great joy and a sense of accomplishment. To be more professional in teaching, I completed a master's degree in education in 2018. This learning experience took my teaching level to a new height.
During the past 14 years, I have accumulated experience in teaching Chinese at various levels with great passion. I have been working as a college Chinese instructor for 6 years and teaching at a weekend Chinese Language school for 14 years from beginner to advanced level. Besides, I am also tutoring other Chinese learners remotely and successfully ran an online AP Chinese class last year, 5 out of 6 of my AP students scored 5 in the 2024 AP Chinese Language and Culture exam.
My core teaching philosophy is always to put my students first. Whether I'm editing and designing my courses, or refining the methods I use when teaching, I ensure all my efforts are student-centered and carefully curated to achieve the best learning results for my students. With a graphic design background, I made all of my teaching content multimedia and incorporated a large number of high-quality pictures and videos throughout my curricula to facilitate comprehension and maximize student engagement and learning motivation. I also constantly try to come up with novel ways of maintaining active thinking and participation.
With my love for Chinese culture, practicing calligraphy and traditional painting allows me to enjoy my leisure time well besides reading and music. These hobbies always make my Chinese class relaxed, interesting, and unique. Becoming a Chinese teacher is not only my profession but also my passion and love. Whenever I stand in front of my students, I always bring my full passion and energy, and do my best to give them a memorable and enjoyable lesson.
