I graduated magna cum laude from Northwestern University in June 2023. I received a BA in Biological Sciences (focused on Molecular Genetics and Genomics) and English Creative Writing with Honors (focused on Poetry). This fall, I will attend the University of Pennsylvania to earn a Master's in Genetic Counseling. I can't wait to be a genetic counselor because they strive to make complicated or scary things easier to understand - and I will have the same goal for my students as a tutor.
I have experience tutoring students in math and biology, and I have taught trumpet players to play, march, or play in mariachis for years. All of these experiences have taught me how to support many different types of personalities and learning styles. I want to get to know my students, create a safe space for them to ask questions, and find out which ways they learn best. I find creative solutions, examples, and metaphors for topics, because the same explanation won't work for everyone.
I am passionate about teaching the subjects I majored in (biology, genetics, English, literature, writing, and creative writing) as well as my favorite hobby, the trumpet. I can also teach some beginner-to-intermediate math and Spanish. In addition, I have plenty of experience with standardized tests (the ACT, SAT, AP Chemistry, AP English Literature and Composition, and AP Calculus BC exams) and with applications for undergraduate and graduate college programs. I am excited to share my knowledge with whoever needs it!
