Certified Tutor

I am originally from Washington, DC and went to St. Olaf College in Northfield, Minnesota. In 2023, I graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree, having majored in mathematics. I particularly enjoy working with pure math.

I began tutoring with the Kilimanjaro Study Program in November of 2023 and continued through May of 2024. During those months I worked mostly with one student on middle-school math concepts. Later in 2024 I returned to math tutoring while also working in healthcare, and in 2025 I started to work exclusively as a math tutor. Currently, all of the students I regularly tutor are in an Algebra or Algebra 2 course. One of the things I enjoy the most in tutoring is being able to help student understand mathematical ideas better.

At the same time, while I believe academics can be beneficial and enriching for children and young adults, I also believe that sometimes too much importance and emphasis can be placed on them, and students do not need to be constantly pressured to perform well in school. Ultimately, it's okay if you never really understand the Pythagorean theorem or why there are infinitely many prime numbers. I hope to create a tutoring environment where we try to learn but there is nothing wrong with struggling to understand.
