Kendyll: South San Francisco tutor
Certified Tutor
As a current Carnegie Mellon University upperclassman pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Policy and Management and Data Analytics, I know the struggles of being a student. Throughout my educational career, I've sought to wield this common ground to assist students with their academic difficulties as others have for me.
I've practiced this skill professionally for the last three years, during which I worked as a private tutor for OpenLiteracy tutoring K-12 students (specifically 4th-8th grades) in several subjects, like math, English reading/writing, social studies/history, and science. I prefer to work with students seeking help in English reading/writing and math.
As a tutor, to ensure the significant improvement of my student's understanding of a topic, I employ various techniques to both strengthen the tutor-student relationship (it's a lot harder to learn from a stranger) and increase the student's topical competency. Such techniques include crafting multi-media lessons that correspond to the student's learning style(s) and tailoring application/practice problems to student interests for increased engagement.
In my spare time, you can catch me listening to music (I recently purchased a record player!!), finding a new local tea house/coffee shop, or gushing over a dog I just met.
