I am very happy with our experience so far with Varsity Tutors. They matched my daughter with reading specialist Mary and she is wonderful! My 10 year old daughter feels happy after her sessions and believes her tutor has already helped her.

Certified Tutor

As a PhD student studying educational psychology, I am passionate about evidence based ways to not only support students' academic outcomes, but also socio-emotional outcomes like motivation to learn, value of learning, confidence in one's academic ability, and growth mindset.

In 2023 I graduated with a BAS in Early Childhood Education. Part of my degree requirements included work as an assistant teacher in K-3 settings, tutoring experiences for ages 4-18, online teaching, and experience as a full time in home caregiver to children ages 0-11. These experiences provided me with experience to test out the evidence based teaching practices I learned in my degree program.

I also graduated with a BA in Psychology. As a psychology major, I had the opportunity to expand my teaching skills as I was a Teaching Assistant for a psychology statistics class where I held weekly tutoring sessions. I also learned more about learning across the lifespan and the importance of motivation, engagement, and mindset.

Diversity is important to me. I have worked with neurodiverse learners such as those with ADHD and autism. I am also comfortable with working with children with other disabilities including physical or developmental. I also have worked with children with diverse gender identities such as non-binary and am happy to support learners' preferred pronouns and identities.
