I am a current microbiology student at the University of Oklahoma who is preparing for and planning to attend medical school. Teaching and tutoring has long been a passion of mine; I've had many opportunities to teach both things that I've studied, such as biology, chemistry, computer science and programming languages, as well as my own personal interests and hobbies, such as swimming and weightlifting, reading and writing, and gospel. I've spent the past two years serving as a full time missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints wherein I spent most of my time teaching individuals and families in Tanzania about not only the gospel, but also English and principles of financial self-reliance, all in the Swahili language. I am a staunch advocate for the importance of education and self-improvement while also firmly believing that the entire experience should be enjoyable. My favorite subjects to teach revolve around computer science, particularly programming at the entry level in Python and Java. I absolutely love to help frame subjects and concepts in a way particular to students to help them individually understand on a deep level whatever they may be struggling with, as I believe that a deep understanding of a subject garners confidence not only in the subject, but also in the student's ability to continue to learn and to improve. In my own spare time I prefer to spend it reading thought-provoking literature, weightlifting, and spending quality time with my family and friends.
