Certified Tutor

I have been an educator for 27 years in K-12 schools and at the university level. I have maintained my National Board Certification for Early/Middle Childhood Physical Education since 2003. Currently, I serve as an Associate Professor in the Department of Kinesiology and the program coordinator of the Physical Education and Health Teacher Education (PEHTE) program at UNCG. I am very passionate about teaching! My teaching philosophy has evolved in my career as an educator, but one element remains the same. For students to fully engage in, be excited by, and share in the responsibility for their learning, all must be provided with the relevant tools to acquire concepts and execute various tasks successfully. As a teacher, one of my job's most rewarding elements is getting to know students and understanding their needs. When I can understand the student's learning process, I can adjust my methods to help bring out the best results for them. In my spare time, I am completing my Ph.D. in Educational Studies with a concentration in Teacher Education Development. My dissertation explores teacher self-efficacy changes while using social and emotional learning (SEL) based learning strategies.
