I am a graduate of Dordt University where I received my Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education with endorsements in special education, middle school math and science, and coaching. Directly out of college, I acquired a unique opportunity to be a special education teacher for high school students in detention. At this first position, I worked to aid students with behavioral, mental, and educational struggles overcome these barriers. I have also worked as a reading therapist where I specialize in reading, writing, language skills, and comprehension therapies. These are the areas I am most passionate about because I have experienced the success of many students overcoming their struggles in these areas. I love the creativity, variety of information, and new skills developed through these subjects that greatly enhance understanding and overall ability to learn. I am excited to come alongside you in your learning journey in an array of topics! I believe learning, while at times challenging, can be fun. It is my personal belief that all students have the ability to achieve their goals and overcome learning barriers in the process. It is my hope that we can work together to accomplish your current goals on top of setting, and achieving even more goals in your learning journey. Along the way, I hope we can build a relationship of mutual respect, excitement for learning new things, and enjoy the course of learning as we work towards meeting your individual goals. I am excited to learn about you, your interests, hobbies, goals in life, and more! In my spare time, I love to run, go hiking, explore the great outdoors, play soccer, and read.

Hobbies

I love exploring our beautiful world in a variety of ways including hiking, running, and biking. Traveling is definitely a highlight of every year for me. Mountainous ranges are one of my favorite landscapes to explore through hiking and camping. I am currently living in Arizona where I am loving the mountains filled with cacti, trees, and an array of wildlife. In addition, I also enjoy playing sports. Throughout my life, soccer has been my favorite sport and I have played at the collegiate level. Backyard sports are a blast with family and friends as well. Growing up, I lived on a small hobby farm where I was able to raise beef cattle, sheep, goats, chickens, button quail, geese, turkeys, rabbits, cats, and a dog. Animals of all kinds have a special place in my heart, especially cows! Baking, reading, archery, journaling, and scrapbooking are also interests of mine. All things considered, I really love to try new things, explore new places, and learn new skills.
