MY PROFESSIONAL VISION AND MISSION
October 23, 2022
My current professional vision and mission coincide with a life-long goal of mine to support and help others in need, especially those who are less fortunate than myself. I have discovered that the most satisfying experiences have occurred when a strong team approach existed and I could develop a "coach-like" relationship with those in need. MY SUCCESS IN THE ASSISTANCE, SUPPORT, AND ENCOURAGEMENT TO MY STUDENTS CAN MOST EASILY BE ATTAINED THROUGH HONEST, FRIENDLY, AND DEDICATED RELATIONSHIPS, AND UTILIZING THE LATEST IN EDUCATIONAL TECHNOLOGIES.
.
The current explosion of growth occurring in Idaho's population was predictable and now presents the need for large numbers of good healthcare educators. It is my belief that student success only occurs when staff are truly dedicated to helping young health professionals and using the proper tools for their education and training. I personally strive to remain current on all important healthcare information, teach through the most recent approaches in medical education, and utilize the latest advancements in educational technology. In that regard, I recently returned to school at the University of Idaho Boise Center and expanded my educational background. In December, 2018, I was able to graduate with a BS degree in Education, a specialty in the area of CTE, and a major in teaching the gifted and talented In addition, I completed requirements for my Idaho Teaching Certificate.
Recently (July 22,2022), the Idaho Board of Education replaced their Common Core Mathematics Pathway with the new European version. This, on top of three years of losing vital classwork time to the COVID-19 epidemic, has left Idaho schools reeling, and a shortage of 300 Math teachers. I foresee Varsity Tutors becoming an important component to stepping in to help, and getting back to some degree of normalcy. I wish to come aboard and be a part of that team.
ADDENDUM: BACKGROUND INFORMATION
As a Boise Valley clinical pharmacist for 45 years, I have had an opportunity to work, lecture, and practice Pharmacy in a variety of healthcare and educational settings. My emphasis of work has always been institutional pharmacy (hospitals and nursing homes) and the provision of clinical pharmacy services. During this period, I have enjoyed serving in a variety of team approaches. This has allowed me to establish specialties in Pain Management, Diabetes Care, and Behavioral Medicine. Other areas of expertise include Infection Control (Microbiology) and Sterile Compounding, Risk Management, and Patient Education.
Through these experiences, I have enjoyed serving as clinician, educator, and administrator in eight different healthcare environments. In addition, I have had an opportunity to volunteer and serve in several local, state, and national healthcare organizations. My greatest joy was my service as a clinical pharmacy practitioner. This involved providing medical education to other healthcare professionals. More importantly, however, was the education, counseling, and direct care given to patients and their families themselves. In addition, these unique environments linvolved a team approach. I received many enjoyable interactions with other members within the healthcare field. Finally, I have been blessed with the opportunity to reside and watch my family grow in the same community where I was born and raised - the Boise Valley. All of these activities have allowed my wife and I to establish many lifelong connections and friendships.
Respectfully submitted,
Al
