Gwenda: Clarkstown tutor
Certified Tutor
I am a Master of Science graduate of the University of Texas at Tyler. I received my Bachelor of Science from Stephen F. Austin University. I am a retired teacher who worked in the secondary math classroom for over 20 years. I then worked in administration for another 10 years before retiring from public education. After retirement in 2016, I have worked at a private Christian school in Tyler Texas and continue to tutor students throughout the school year as well as do consulting work for Independent School Districts who have a need.
I have certifications in Secondary Mathematics, ESL and Special Education. I also hold a valid Texas Principal Certification. I love teaching students and helping them build their confidence in the area of mathematics. I knew I wanted to be a teacher since elementary school and then later after having some not so great teachers in mathematics realized that was the area, I was called to work in. I especially enjoy teaching algebra to students. It is like a puzzle and a mystery that I get to help them unfold and put all the pieces together. Next to my faith and family, education is one of the most important areas in my life and I feel privileged that I get to share that with the next generation.
In my spare time I love spending time with my husband as we ride motorcycles, visiting my son and 3 year old granddaughter in the Houston area, as well as spending time outdoors.
