Certified Tutor
After completing my PhD in Special Education and spending a year and a half conducting research, it became very obvious to me that I am a teacher at heart. In my 20+ years in education I have worked as both a general and special education teacher in public school classrooms, district-level behavioral specialist, and state-wide consultant in the areas of Positive Behavior Interventions and Support and Autism Spectrum Disorders.
I especially enjoy working with students who may find learning challenging, as I love discovering what motivates a student.
I love teaching anything related to literacy and am trained in Orton Gillingham. I use books to engage students in learning key language, reading, speaking, and writing standards.
I also have expertise in teaching students to self-regulate, self-monitor, and self-direct their own learning.
I believe all students can learn!
