Hi, my name is Lily!

I'm a current undergraduate at Purdue University Fort Wayne, studying Secondary Education and English with a concentration in Writing.

Realizing that I had a passion for English and teaching allowed me to find opportunities to learn and grow as a teacher early on. Over the years, I participated in many learning and leadership settings. I took on the Kids Director role at a church campus, as well as observed and got hands-on experience in an 8th grade English classroom, while I was still in high school.

Outside my normal university studies, I pursued and obtained my TEFL certification through the International TEFL Academy, an internationally respected institution that boasts a RQF Level 5 Certificate accredited by TQUK. The certification process consists 150 hours of coursework and at least 20 hours of practicum experience. My experience consists of observation and participation in local adult language classes of every level, private tutoring foreign students, and working with a local charity to privately tutor refugees from Afghanistan.

My classroom is a safe and encouraging environment. Mistakes are a part of the learning process and are not indicative of moral or personal failure.
I will always show up and give my best, because I truly care about my students' progress. My expectations will always be realistic and clear. In return, I expect my students to demonstrate a willingness to learn. Mutual respect is a core value of my classroom.
