Certified Tutor

I am currently a sophomore pursuing a Bachelor of Science degree in computer science and data science at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. For me, teaching represents an opportunity to grow as a learner myself while also enriching others with the knowledge I know about. I always aspire to seek newer perspectives and ideologies that challenge my own beliefs, and there is no better setting for this than the classroom. Over the summer, I experienced this fully while teaching a self-designed history course as the views the students brought up were often different than mine and perspectives that I had never considered before clouded my mind. Pausing to rethink my own perspectives made me realize how much deeper I could go into the subject matter, pushing me to challenge my students equally. I currently tutor math and computer science as part of the GUTS program, and analyzing different solutions to the same problem help me understand people better as I get some insight into their thinking, which helps in building strong relationships. This also makes the tutoring less about trying to memorize concepts to pass a test, but to properly engage with the content, so that it can further be shared with others. I enjoy playing basketball and football and watching both, I like to read and write, and listening to music to destress.
