Certified Tutor

I am a graduate of the University of Washington. I received my BA in Latin American and Caribbean Studies with a minor in History. After graduating I successfully obtained certification to teach English as a foreign language. I have taught abroad in Buenos Aires, Argentina and Gwangju, South Korea. My time spent in South Korea was particularly rewarding and very close to my heart. I worked with students ranging in age from 6 years old, up through high school. I taught a variety of subjects including ELA, novel, writing, debate, comprehension and TOEFL test-prep courses. I also took an active role in mentoring and counseling with the middle school students, which was a great opportunity to not only help students achieve their academic goals, but learn how to be a better educator. I believe every student has the capacity to reach their goals, it's only a matter of finding out what works best for them. As a teacher I always challenge myself to improve and find new and creative ways to engage with my students and incite a passion for learning.
