Certified Tutor

I am a graduate of Arizona State University. I received my Bachelor of Science in Social and Behavioral Science with an emphasis on qualitative research. Since graduation, I've tutored K-8 after-school tutoring all subjects; high school Language Arts; college Writing and Composition, Academic Reading, Research Design, and beginning Library Research. I've tutored at the community college Writing Center, TRiO program at Arizona State University, computer-based classes for English proficiency, and I volunteered through VISTA Americorps with Refugee Resettlement of State of Arizona Department of Economic Security.
I grew up loving books and reading, but learned more about writing when my dear son went to a charter school that used classical education curriculum. I came to see exactly why 'prep school' is preparation for college academics. Once a person really comes to understand how to write a thesis statement, they'll find there is no end to its usefulness!
A big part of my educational philosophy was formed as we homeschooled through fifth grade and our homeschool Latin teacher explained that "ludus"meaning playing games was the ancient ideal of the classroom. Finding the fun in learning is my goal for each individual I'm privileged to tutor.
