Certified Tutor

I'm a first-year student at the University of Toronto in Canada. I've always adored outer space, and I plan to declare majors in Astronomy, Computer Science, and maybe Statistics. I'm originally from North Carolina, but I bounced around Canada for a few years before finally settling down in Illinois.

I first adventured into the world of tutoring during high school, when I joined my school's SSAT Tutoring Club. There, I learned to proctor mock exams, organize educational games, and help students correct their mistakes. Most importantly, I learned how to plan lessons that target each student's unique learning style and personality. This idea has become the crux of my tutoring philosophy; I believe that learning is done best when the material is connected to a student's hobbies, passions, and the outside world. After all, isn't finding the volume of the Apollo 11 rocket so much cooler than measuring the dimensions of a random cone?

As a recent high school graduate, I understand the struggles of standardized testing and college applications, so I primarily focus on tutoring SSAT, SAT, and the math skills that are required for both exams. I'm more than happy to share my personal test prep experience and all the advice I learned along the way.

Outside of academics, I love stargazing, reading fantasy novels, and running.
