Samuel: Oxford tutor
Certified Tutor
I'm a neuroscience graduate student getting my PhD in neuroscience at Wake Forest School of Medicine. I study the molecular mechanisms of autism and epilepsy, and research pharmacological ways to prevent early epileptic activity. But before graduate school, I attended Virginia Tech and double majored in chemistry and neuroscience. At Virginia Tech, I discovered my proclivity for research and teaching.
Although the majority of my time is spent in the lab, I am passionate about teaching. I have over 6 years of tutoring experience; I've privately tutored high school chemistry, and I've served as a chemistry teaching assistant at Virginia Tech. I've also been a graduate teaching assistant for the introductory neuroscience class at Wake Forest.
I have the most experience tutoring chemistry, and I strive to help my students achieve that "Aha moment". I believe in taking the time to teach the basic concepts that are at the root of the problem before jumping into the problem at hand. As a tutor, I'm also constantly learning as well and improving my teaching skills; I want to learn how I can best help you and convey the information clearly and concisely.
Please reach out so we can get you up-to-speed on all things chemistry. Good luck!
