Certified Tutor
Hey I'm Ryan! I'm a third-year student at the University of Washington in Seattle, where I'm currently pursuing a double major in political science and philosophy. I have experience tutoring in a wide variety of subjects, ranging from music to English composition, and have done so since I was a sophomore in high school. However, my personal favorite subjects to teach and where I am strongest as a tutor are English and History/Government at any level up to and including college, as those are the areas I've had the most consistent practice and critical engagement in through my studies during high school and beyond. I love tutoring because I understand firsthand what it is like to struggle with something and to feel inferior to others because of those struggles. Therefore, my teaching philosophy is centered around the idea that there are no bad questions because to be taught and to ask for help are inherently acts of courage. I'm willing to work with a student through their frustration and intend, through the process of tutoring, to make validation, the cultivation of genuine interest in a subject, and importantly, fun, focal points of the process. In my spare time, I enjoy reading fantasy novels, listening to and producing music, and taking long walks in nature to procrastinate doing my own assignments.
