My undergraduate degree is in English and my graduate degree is in Education/Reading. When my children were in grade school, I returned to teaching and worked mostly with adults and high school students who were learning English. In addition, I taught college composition and reading courses and later I began to tutor students of all ages who needed help with homework, specifically reading and writing skills. I greatly enjoy helping my students improve their skills and gain confidence as they continue to progress. I love learning and have a great desire to keep sharing that love of learning with all students! I've found that with a bit of extra attention and guidance, struggling students will master challenging assignments.

Otherwise, I like to spend my off time visiting family (both in the US and in Europe), and enjoying the beach. I also have written as a freelancer and just completed a book on health.

Hobbies

My interests and hobbies center around the natural world and creative expression. I've been a member of the local community garden for 12 years and am happy to report that we had a bumper crop this year. I enjoy painting, collaging and knitting, as well as writing and design, walking, and yoga. I'm committed to good health and have followed a (mostly) vegetarian diet all of my adult life.
