I am a former high school mathematics, music, and arts/humanities teacher with 17 years of experience in the classroom. My top specialties within those fields are Geometry, Statistics, Algebra, and Trigonometry, as well as Vocal Music and Music Theory.
I hold a Master of Arts in Secondary Mathematics Education and a Master of Music from Eastern Kentucky University, as well as a Bachelor of Arts with a double-major in Music Education and Mathematics.
While academic content has certain parts that set as a standard, I like to work with students to adapt to some of their likes and interests, when possible. Particularly in geometry, I like to use multi-colored drawings and diagrams, as well as physical models when I can. I'm also very experienced in the use of the TI-84 graphing calculator for a variety of purposes.
What I enjoy most about teaching is building strong relationships with students. Mathematics, in particular, is known to be challenging, and sometimes need to be taught in a way that is more individualized, and I try to use humor and a little sarcasm to make things a bit more fun.
*NOTE: my availability with Varsity Tutors is shifting due to the attainment of a new job, but my start date has not yet been confirmed. This could happen at any time, and may create a need to change appointment dates and times. Of course, if I can no longer meet your needs, I do hope you can find what you need here at VT. I will make every effort to provide advance notice of changes as soon as possible!

Outside of my academic interests, I'm a pretty cool expert geek. I love comic books, some anime, Star Wars, cosplay, and fan conventions, as well as video games. I've worked at some fan conventions and worked with some TV/movie actors from sci-fi and superhero/fantasy shows, including The Princess Bride, the Stargate franchise, RWBY, Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood and My Hero Academia, and more. If you're not into those things, no big deal to me. Everyone has their interests, and everyone is welcome at my table.
