Certified Tutor

I have always wanted to be a teacher. I remember holding "classes" for my siblings in the basement of our home when I was in grade school. I taught the lessons, corrected the papers, and gave assignments. I was called to teach and I absolutely love what I do!! Being a child of two educators probably had a little bit to do with it as well.

My father was a college professor at the University of Nebraska. He instilled in me the love for learning and the expectation to work hard and get results. I watched him plan his lessons nightly at the kitchen table and have never forgotten how important it is to plan for each and every subject. Being a tutor gives me the rare opportunity to do that for each and every student as well.

I graduated from the University of Nebraska with a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education with a minor in music.

I moved to Lenexa, Kansas i, and began teaching elementary school in the urban area of Kansas City, Kansas. A small-town girl was learning the ropes quickly. I graduated from the University of Kansas with a Master's Degree in Curriculum and Instruction. I went on to teach fifth grade in the Blue Valley School District where I was able to write the curriculum.
I worked with Kindergarten through 12th grade in inner-city Kansas City, Missouri as an Instructional Coach. This gave me the ability to work with every type of learner and different curricula at every grade level assessing, teaching, reassessing, and working toward goals with the student and their teachers. That helped me to become a much better instructor that can understand and assess children where they are.

I take pride in my work and will put everything I have into every student to help them be successful. I am about to graduate with my Doctorate in Curriculum and Instruction.
